Aircraft Details
The Embraer Legacy 600 was introduced in 2000 at the Farnborough Airshow, and quickly made an impression on the private aviation community due to the vast amount of room this business jet provides.
Delivering a flight range of 3,400 nm and seating for up to 13 passengers, the Legacy 600 is designed to compete with the upper end of the heavy jet class, including one of its main competitors, the Challenger 600 series of business jets. Why Embraer and Bombardier came to share this international rivalry isn’t as interesting as to how.
The Legacy has nearly the complete opposite design progression as its rival Challenger — the 600 was derived from the ERJ 135 and other established regional jets from Brazilian aerospace company Embraer, whereas the Canadair Regional Jet developed by Bombardier employed lessons learned from its Challenger series of business jets.
The Legacy 600 is an outstanding choice for private jet travelers and potential aircraft owners looking for plenty of space, comfort, and performance in a medium-range large business jet.
Comfort
Offering one of the largest interiors in its class, the 6′ 11″ width and 6′ height provide an incredible 1,400 cubic feet of cabin volume. The large volume allows for plenty of seating configurations in three partitioned sections, while still offering plenty of space.
6 large executive seats feature 20″ wide cushions and 26″ wide backs, recline to 75 degrees, track forward, and aft and swivel. There’s also a divan available in the cabin with a berthing top that slides out, creating a comfortable sleeping space.
The executive cabin typically features a forward galley and closet; 4 executive seats arranged in a facing group sharing two foldout tables, and 4 smaller seats with a conference table and an opposite-facing credenza. There’s also and an aft stateroom with 2 large single seats, a foldout table, and an opposite-facing divan or couch.
The Legacy 600 is optimized to seat between 8 and 13 passengers in a spacious, comfortable configuration, however, high-density seating arrangements can be configured to allow a maximum of 19 passengers. Furthermore, the Legacy 600 Shuttle can seat 19 to 37 with airline-style seating, at the cost of losing some of its range.
Performance
The 600 is powered by twin Rolls-Royce AW3007A1E engines, each delivering 8,100 pounds of thrust and creating an immense amount of power, climbing at a rate of 3,052 feet per minute. It’s also flexible for a jet of its size, requiring only 5,614 feet of runway at sea level.
Cruising at a maximum speed of 613 mph (0.80 mach, 460 knots) and slowing it down a little to travel a maximum of 3,250 nautical miles, the 600 can cross the Atlantic with ease, all while avoiding traffic and inclement weather with a certified flight ceiling of 41,000 feet.
Ownership
For potential owners, the Legacy 600 is an attractive option within the medium-range, large-cabin business jet segment, offering one of the quietest flight experiences in class, and low operating costs. Meanwhile, the all-new 650E carries a 10 year/10,000 flight hour warranty — the longest in the industry **.
The Legacy 600 business jet was designed using the knowledge and experience Embraer gained while creating some of the world’s top regional airliners. It remains one of the most requested aircraft on the charter market, where it competes daily with the Challenger for transcontinental and transatlantic flights.
Embraer is one of the most reliable names in aviation, and the 600 has maintained an outstanding performance record with 99.7% dispatch reliability.
The 600’s cockpit features Honeywell Primus 2000 avionics, optimizing pilot’s performance in congested airspace, at airports with challenging terrain, and during poor weather and low visibility conditions. Standard and optional systems including the Synthetic Vision System (SVS); Five LCD Displays + Cursor Control Device (CCD); SmartRunway/SmartLanding (RAAS); Dual Inertial Reference System (IRS); Integrated Stand-by Instruments System (ISIS), and more.

650 / 650E
Announced at the 2009 NBAA show and certified by the FAA in February 2011, the Legacy 650 is an extended range version of the 600, adding an additional 500 nautical miles when flying non-stop with four passengers.
Upgraded performance is delivered by Rolls-Royce AE 3007A2 each generating 9,020 lbs of thurst, increasing max take-off weight (53,572 lbs) and a max landing weight (44,092 lbs). Honeywell Primus Elite avionics are included as well.
An enhanced version of the 650, the Legacy 650E was announced at the 2016 NBAA and scheduled to be released in 2017. The 650E also includes the Honeywell Primus Elite avionics suite with a synthetic vision system and auto-throttle as standard, a redesigned interior, and an industry-leading 10-year/10,000-flight-hour warranty.
The 650E also delivers outstanding runway capabilities, requires a take-off distance of 5,741 ft (sea-level, maximum weight, and ISA), while requiring only 2,842 feet of runway to land (sea-level, maximum landing weight, NBAA IFR reserves, ISA). Between the enhanced range and performance, owners can enjoy non-stop flights from London to New York, or Sao Paulo to Miami.
Popular Flight Requests
A spacious interior divided into 3 sections with comfortable seating for up to 13 passengers make the 600 and 650 a popular choice for executive groups and families flying across the country or the Atlantic. At speeds of more than 600 mph and a range between 3,400 and 3,900 nautical miles, it’s one of the most comfortable and lavish ways to travel around the world.
